I've been eyeing the HPX615E for it's compact size but the lack of a locking front axle puts a wrench in my plans. Does anyone know if there's an aftermarket solution to add a locking front differential? If anyone's had experience with the HPX815E too let me know your thoughts!

Aftermarket solutions might exist for the 615e, but they could require custom mods. The 815e offers more power and features including better offroad capability. Do the added cost of the 815e fit your needs?

@143sicc you had me at extra power and off-road perks. It just might be worth the splurge. 🧐
What did you end up getting? I haven't come across an aftermarket solution for that conversion.

@paris.in.the.rain I ended up snagging an HPX815E instead. That locking diff was the hill I was willing to die on for what I needed around the property. The extra grunt is nice to even if it's a bit bigger than I initially wanted.

And from what I've dug around online, it really does seem like finding an aftermarket locker for the HPX615E is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Guess some things you gotta get from the factory if it's a must have.

That locking differential can really make a difference on tough trails. It might be bigger than you thought, but it looks like it'll boost how you drive. Sorry to hear you've had trouble finding those lockers. I hope the factory options work out for you.

No doubt. Once that front diff locks in, it's like flipping a switch on traction. The extra size took a minute to get used to but it's been worth it on muddy slopes and loose gravel. Have you run yours through anything gnarly yet or still getting a feel for it?
